In 2003 it was published for the PC, Macintosh and Tapwave Zodiac.
The game is a departure from the previous three games' career mode, in which you had a set amount of time in order to find and complete goals. THPS4 instead featured a career mode more similar to free-skate mode, in which there was no time limit to explore the level. This career mode would be later seen as the Story modes of Tony Hawk: Underground series, American Wasteland, and Project 8.

Skitching
To skitch, the player must press Up on the controller to allow the skater to grab onto the bumper of a vehicle. For as long as his skater is holding onto the vehicle, the player must maintain his balance. The player can switch between the left and right side of the vehicle, meant for dodging obstacles that could knock the player out of the skitch. Jumping or pressing Down while skitching will end the skitch. However, this feature is not in the Game Boy Advance game.
