Upgrade from 2001
The new faces and uniforms on PlayStation 2 look crisper. It's considered the best football game graphically at that time. There are new added things like the Hurry-up offense(two minute drill), a Training Mode hosted by John Madden, Franchise expansion in Franchise Mode, new cheerleader cards and new game modes like tournament and custom league. Most important though, the gameplay was heavily worked on, such as one-handed catches, pass defense, etc.
